When traffic doubles or an incident floods our logs, does the bill move?

Nothing changes. The bill is set by node count, not log volume, so a flood or a doubling of traffic adds zero. There is no per-GB charge anywhere in the 10x bill for ingest, processing, storage, or queries. Tiers ride a P90 baseline of node count over 30 days, so a one-day autoscale burst does not bump a tier.

What is included in the per-node price, and what gets billed on top?

The per-node number is the whole number. Every tier includes all features, Attribute, Compact, Regulate, Offload, and the local Dev CLI, plus the Console, with unlimited log volume and no per-seat, per-query, or per-GB add-on.

Volume-based tools tend to split ingest, indexing, retention, seats, and queries into separate lines and then add overage; node pricing collapses that into one figure.

What every tier includes
What happens if we cross a node tier? Are there overage penalties?

There is no per-GB overage meter, so short traffic spikes and incident floods do not change the bill. Tiers are set on the P90 node count over 30 days, and the Console flags usage at 75, 90, and 100 percent with a 14-day grace period. Crossing a tier prompts a manual one-click upgrade, never an automatic charge.

What counts as a node? Do pods, analytics hosts, or a sidecar inflate the count?

Only hosts running a 10x collector count. Pods on a worker node stay out of the count, and analytics infrastructure like log-platform indexers and data nodes stays out too, unless that machine itself runs a collector. Lambda functions are free.

How nodes are counted
Can we pilot on a few nodes without a credit card, and is there lock-in if we leave?

Yes to both. Dev runs on your own log files locally with no account and no card, and a scoped rollout is billed only on the nodes that run a collector, so pinning the deployment to 50 of 200 worker nodes counts as 50.

Processing runs in your own infrastructure and metrics land in your own store, so leaving means no vendor-held log data to extract. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the billing cycle.
